Molasses/Treacle?

Kay. So I went shopping during my lunch break and purchased all the ingrediants I need to make a ginger bread house. My question is in regards to Molasses.

It's not an easy find, here. So... I bought Treacle instead. Is this an OK substitute?

I asked an old lady at the supermarket what she thinks, and she said it should be okay... but I'm not quite sure what the consistancy difference is/isn't with these two....

Any info would be appreciated.
